Disposable cameras are a great addition to any travel bag. Buy one for each child and let them take the snap shots. They're inexpensive, so if lost or broken the damage is minimal. A child’s perspective is precious since they often see what adults overlook. And, the finished photos can be a wonderful springboard for learning and sharing the "Taiwan Experience". |
As of November 22, 1999, the Kaohsiung Youth Program
began providing activities for expatriate and other English speaking youngsters
living in the Kaohsiung area. Children in kindergarten through Grade
8 will be able to choose from dance, arts & crafts, or martial arts
classes. Children in Grade 5 will be able to choose from a variety
of team sports like basketball, soccer and baseball on a seasonal basis.
In order to improve the quality of life for area youth, representatives from schools and organizations have joined together to establish KYP. Donations are always welcome, and persons with special talents are invited to contribute. Program costs will be kept at a minimum to allow for greatest participation. Funds will be directed towards uniforms, equipment, facility charges and instructor fees (as applicable). KYP's goal is to provide a range of activities that focus on fun, but that also teach "life lessons" to the young and enrich their experience of living in a foreign culture. |
